From 28 to 30 June 2023, a team of CEPEJ experts visited Bulgaria to deepen their knowledge and exchange with the project partners on the measurement and management of magistrates' workload according to the type of case, the jurisdiction or the location of the court, as well as on the processes for collecting and verifying statistics in this field. Discussions with the Supreme Judicial Council, Sofia District Court, Veliko Turnovo Administrative Court, Veliko Turnovo Regional Court, Varna District Court, Varna Regional Court and Varna Administrative Court enabled experts from Croatia, Latvia, Slovenia and Bulgaria to familiarise themselves with the organisation of work in the courts, the process of collecting and analysing data and the operation of the workload management module. This information will be used to prepare recommendations aimed at improving the efficiency of court management and administration in Bulgaria.
This activity was organised in the framework of the project Establishing a balanced distribution of the workload in the judicial system in Bulgaria, co-financed by the European Union via the technical assistance instrument and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.
