On 17 July, Dr Edward Żammit Lewis, Maltese Minister of Justice, Equality and Governance, held a press conference on the development of a digital justice strategy for Malta. The Minister stressed the need to increase the efficiency of the Maltese judicial system, which should be achieved in particular within the framework of the cooperation project "Establishing a digital strategy for the Maltese justice sector" with the support of the CEPEJ. A short video presenting the action of the CEPEJ in the framework of this project was broadcasted during this press conference.
This announcement to the press closed a series of interviews carried out this week by the international experts of the CEPEJ with the Maltese justice officials to evaluate the use of IT tools. While bringing its expertise in efficiency and quality of justice, it is by ensuring the involvement of all stakeholders and the coordination of the various IT initiatives that the CEPEJ will contribute to the development of the future Digital Justice strategy for Malta.
The project, which is expected to be completed by the end of May 2021, is carried out with funding by the European Union via the Structural Reform Support Programme and in cooperation with the European Commission's DG Reform.
