On 28 May 2021, the European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice (CEPEJ) and the Tunisian National Bar Association (ONAT) will co-organise a seminar on "Mediation in civil matters: which practices and which foundations?" for the attention of Tunisian lawyers.
During this event, European experiences of mediation practice by lawyers will be presented, as well as the stakes and advantages of such an alternative dispute resolution method. A debate between CEPEJ experts and Tunisian lawyers will allow to better know the expectations of the latter in this field.
This seminar will also be the opportunity to recall the CEPEJ Toolbox for the development of mediation to ensure the implementation of the CEPEJ guidelines on mediation, and in particular the training programme for lawyers to accompany clients in mediation.
This seminar is a continuation of a series of training workshops organised with ONAT on the theme of "The Lawyer and Mediation" which started in February 2021. These meetings are organised within the framework of the joint European Union/Council of Europe programme aimed at improving the functioning, performance and access to justice in Tunisia (AP-JUST) co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the latter.
