On 12 August 2020 a team of CEPEJ experts met in a videoconference members of the judicial administration of the Republic of Moldova to discuss new measures with a view to improving the efficiency of courts and the quality of judicial services through further dissemination of CEPEJ-recommended tools. The experts from Italy, Slovenia and Latvia presented the main findings of the report resulting from a fact-finding and coaching mission that took place in February. Representatives from the Ministry of Justice, Superior Council of Magistracy, Agency for Court Administration and the National Institute of Justice of Moldova shared their feedback on the ideas for measures to disseminate the reporting on courts’ performance based on CEPEJ guidelines on judicial statistics, on a more thorough use of judicial performance indicators in the policy development and decision-making processes, and on how to publish various statistical data similarly to the CEPEJ-STAT platform, in order to increase the transparency and improve the public’s confidence in courts.
The activity was part of the cooperation project “Support to further strengthening the efficiency and quality of the judicial system in the Republic of Moldova”, implemented in the framework of the European Union/Council of Europe Partnership for Good Governance II, co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe.
