CEPEJ is developing an expert advice to Azerbaijani judicial authorities on “Access to courts for vulnerable groups”.
In this regard, online meetings have been organized in June with the Ministry of Justice, the Judicial Legal Council, the Justice Academy, the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs and representatives of appeal and first instance courts of Azerbaijan to gain understanding and evidence of the main challenges that the vulnerable groups (persons with disabilities, women and children, minorities) face with regard to access to justice – particular access to courts in the country.
A report will be developed including recommendations as to which strategies and good practices could be possibly used across Azerbaijani courts to address these challenges and improve access to justice in practice.
The activity is being organized in the framework of the CEPEJ cooperation project "Strengthening the efficiency and quality of the judicial system in Azerbaijan" under the Partnership for Good Governance II (PGG II), which is funded jointly by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.
