A series of trainings on CEPEJ judicial time management tools and on court performance indicators for non-judge staff was launched on 8-9 June 2023 in the courts of Vlora and Fier, and was followed by similar trainings in Tirana first instance court on 22-23 June 2023 and in Tirana Appeal court on 6-7 July 2023.
These trainings were specifically aimed at judges assistants who had an opportunity to exchange with High Judicial Council of Albania representatives and CEPEJ experts on CEPEJ tools (judicial statistics guidelines, SATURN judicial time management checklist and specifically the part on non-judge court staff), on good European practices on judicial time management, as well as on domestic piloted practices in the field of judicial time management, in particular in matters of forced execution.
Similar trainings will take place in other Albanian courts, with aim to reinforce the legal assistance units, their roles and their involvement in different stages of the judicial process, ensuring it takes place within a reasonable time. These trainings are organized in the framework of the reorganization of courts in line with the new judicial map, and will continue in other Albanian courts throughout 2023.
The activity was organized by the action Strengthening the Quality and Efficiency of Justice in Albania (SEJ IV) in the framework of the European Union/Council of Europe joint programme Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Türkiye (Horizontal Facility III), co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.
