On 7 May 2020, the two CEPEJ coordinators in the Ministry of Justice met virtually with the CEPEJ international expert Julinda Beqiraj to discuss the recommendations in the third assessment report on the functioning of the judicial system in Kosovo. The report examines the evolution of the efficiency of the activity of courts and prosecution services from 2014 to 2018. This third assessment exercise has been conducted by the Ministry of Justice, with the support of the KoSEJ II Action, with the long-term objective to establish a sustainable process of data collection and analysis. The CEPEJ coordinators collected the data from the relevant institutions and were directly involved in preparing the analysis, thus receiving firsthand experience conducting an assessment exercise from beginning to end. In addition, detailed guidelines are being prepared by the KoSEJ II Action to share with the beneficiaries the technical “know-how” to collect and analyse the required data.
This activity is organised by the KoSEJ II Action “Strengthening the Quality and Efficiency of Justice in Kosovo”, which is part of the the European Union/Council of Europe joint programme Horizontal Facility of the Western Balkans and Turkey II co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.
