What is the project?

The project aims to support Georgia’s reform agenda on the rights of the child, and notably to  further align the Georgian national legal and policy framework with the Council of Europe Convention on the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse  (Lanzarote Convention) and recommendations of the Lanzarote Committee related to child rights and combating sexual violence against children.

The project will focus on strengthening the quality of response to violence against children, including online child sexual exploitation and abuse, in Georgia.

The project is a direct follow-up of the previous Council of Europe projects “Responding to child sexual exploitation and abuse in Georgia” (2017-2019), “End Online Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse in Europe” (2018-2021), and “Ensuring child-friendly justice in Georgia: preventing and protecting children from violence, including in the digital environment" (2022-2023).

The project will be implemented within the framework of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Georgia (2024-2027) by the Council of Europe Children's Rights Division and in close co-operation with the Council of Europe Office in Tbilisi from 1 June 2024 to 31 May 2026.
