Poverty affects children in many ways. Children growing up in poverty or social exclusion are less likely than their peers to do well in school, enjoy good health and realise their full potential later in life. Not having enough to eat or not having a personal space has a detrimental effect on children’s well-being. The price of energy, food and clothes should not be children’s concern.
