Council of Europe supports child protection professionals to handle cases of unaccompanied and separated children in the context of migration

25 child protection specialists, social assistants, representatives of the General Inspectorate of Migration and international organizations were trained in a round table on the implementation of the Recommendation of the Committee of Ministers to member states on the effective guardianship of unaccompanied and separated children in the context of migration and the Memorandum Explanatory.

The purpose of this roundtable was to present the principles of the recommendation and the explanatory memorandum, as well as to provide a platform for discussion on the checklists included in the recommendation. Participants practiced implementing these checklists based on the case studies that were discussed in the group work sessions. The case studies generated discussions and questions that served as a platform for reflections. The sessions were moderated by international and national consultants, Maria Andriani Kostopoulou and Mariana Ianachevici.

The roundtable was organized by the Council of Europe project “Preventing and protecting children from violence including in the digital environment in the Republic of Moldova” and covers the Project’s intermediate outcome 2 “Professionals from governmental authorities dealing with monitoring of children’s rights and protection of children against violence, sexual abuse and exploitation work in accordance with the Council of European guidelines and standards on child-friendly justice”.
