Employment of people from vulnerable groups discussed at round table

On 25 April 2024 the Council of Europe brought together different actors, representing government agencies, vocational education and training institutions and businesses, at a roundtable aiming at enhancing the intersectorial cooperation for increasing the employment of persons from vulnerable groups,  including persons with disabilities.

The roundtable discussions began with the presentation of a database of  companies from Cahul, Leova, Râșcani, Comrat, Chișinău, Orhei, and Soroca that demonstrate a commitment to inclusivity in their employment practices. The participants were informed of the challenges the companies face when employing persons from vulnerable groups, including persons with disabilities and explored the solutions to facilitate the access of these persons to the labour market. Specific attention was paid to the examination of  family-friendly working conditions, such as flexible working hours, part-time employment opportunities, supportive parental leave policies, and other benefits that the companies can offer to encourage persons from voulnerable groups to get employed.

The participants agreed on the need to establish a collaborative platform that  would identify opportunities and possibilities to integrate vulnerable groups into appropriate vocational education, ultimately leading to their employment.

The event was organized within the framework of the Council of Europe Action Plan for the Republic of Moldova 2021-2024, and the Council of Europe project "Enhancing employment rights in the Republic of Moldova" which is co-funded by the Austrian Development Agency and the Council of Europe.
