The European agenda of the Republic of Moldova and strengthening national capacities to implement Council of Europe standards were among the topics discussed by Falk Lange, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Chisinau, with Mihai Popșoi, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova.

The officials welcomed the efficient cooperation between the Council of Europe and the Republic of Moldova in achieving the country's objectives on reforms in the field of human rights, democracy and rule of law, including through the prism of the Council of Europe Action Plan for the Republic of Moldova 2021 - 2024. They also spoke about the ongoing Council of Europe projects in the Republic of Moldova, underlining the CoE's contribution in enhancing the independence, professionalism and transparency of the judicial sector in the Republic of Moldova.

Falk Lange reaffirmed the Council of Europe's support in the Republic of Moldova's accession process to the European Union, by providing the necessary assistance in reforming the justice system and facilitating the harmonization of national legislation in line with European standards. In this respect, both officials discussed also the preparations for the elaboration of the new Action Plan 2025-28 and cooperation in this process.
