Claus Neukirch presented the joint achievements over the past three years through the Council of Europe's Action Plan for the Republic of Moldova for 2021-2024 and reiterated the Council of Europe’s strong support to the country as one of the prirorities for the Organisation.
“We are about to finalise the 4th Council of Europe Action Plan for the Republic of Moldova 2025-2028. The Council of Europe remains firmly committed to supporting the country as it continues reforms to strengthen democracy, human rights and the rule of law, based on the European standards, on its historic path towards EU membership”, stated Director Neukirch addressing the Moldova Partnership Platform.
The new Council of Europe Action Plan will focus in particular on enhancing the implementation of the European Convention on Human Rights, aligning national anti-discrimination legislation and practice with European standards, fighting corruption as well as promoting gender equality and strengthening the independence and accountability of the judiciary in the Republic of Moldova.
It will also continue to address the challenges posed by the consequences of the ongoing war of aggression by the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
