World Refugee Day 2024 marked with the presentation of the Resilience Journal for Adolescents

On the occasion of the World Refugee Day, marked annually on 20 June, more than 70 adolescents from Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Moldova, attending a summer camp in Zloti village, Cimislia district, received the Resilience Journal for Adolescents.

The Journal represents a tool to support adolescents in understanding their emotions, take care of their needs and learn to cope with challenges in life in a positive and useful way. It is primarily designed for  refugee children to strengthen their resilience, but it also provides an opportunity to other children who go through different stressful and difficult life situations. The Journal is the result of  joint efforts of a team of experts, namely, the international consultant, Dr.Sc. Sabiha Husic and the illustrator Iulia Gradinar-Scobari, who worked in co-ordination with the psychologists of the National Centre for Psycho-pedagogical Assistance.

The event organised in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Research was attended by Falk Lange, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Chisinau, who engaged in discussions with these young people highlighting the importance of  solidarity with refugees. He also praised the efforts of the Moldovan society , from ordinary citizens to the authorities, to make refugees and displaced persons feel at home. “All of you being here together at the leisure camp” „Izvorash” - from Ukraine, from Azerbaijan, from Moldova – show solidarity,  understanding and support. I hope this Journal, which is developed particularly for you, will help you in developing your resilience.”.

The Resilience Journal for Adolescents was developed and designed in the framework of the Council of Europe project “Strengthening the human rights protection of refugees and migrants in the Republic of Moldova " and will be available in Romanian, Ukrainian, English and Russian.
