Around 70 teacher trainers of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research of the Republic of Moldova have been trained how to apply in practice the provisions of the first module of the teachers’ handbook for the subject “Education for society” (grades V, VI, X and XI).
The training seminars took place in Chisinau on 14-15 August and 16-17 August 2019 and were organised by the Council of Europe Project „Education for democracy in the Republic of Moldova” in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research.
The national experts presented and discussed with the participants at the training the best practices and examples in teaching and assessing the subject “Education for society” in line with the reconceptualised curriculum and the Council of Europe standards.
The participants have been delighted to receive the copies of the first module of the teachers’ handbook developed during the months of July and August by a group of international and national experts hired by the Council of Europe. These are the first ever teaching materials elaborated in the Republic of Moldova for the reconceptualised civic education subject “Education for Society”.
In the following weeks, the Ministry’s trainers will share the knowledge and information gathered during the trainings with “Education for society” teachers all-over Moldova. The follow-up activity is organised by district/municipal education departments under the guidance of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research.
This is the first round of training seminars during the school year 2019/2020. The second round is planned in October 2019.
The Project „Education for democracy in the Republic of Moldova” is implemented by the Council of Europe and is financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) in the framework of “Moldova: Fostering Active Civic Engagement” Programme.
