What is the project? 

Media pluralism in the Republic of Moldova remains a priority for the Council of Europe, a commitment reinforced by the Council of Europe Action Plan for Moldova 2021-2024.

The Project aims to further strengthen and build on already achieved results in the field of media, as well as continuously respond to new needs identified in the implementation course of previous co-operation projects. To reach this objective, the Project will support the implementation of activities addressing the need for legislative reforms in the audiovisual field, capacity-building for media professionals and content diversification within the National Public Broadcaster, as well as strengthen the access to information legal framework and its implementation in the Republic of Moldova.

Young filmmakers trained on best European practices on producing documentaries on human rights

Throughout 19-23 of September, the Council of Europe project “Support for Media Pluralism and Freedom of Expression in the Republic of Moldova”  jointly with the public broadcaster’s Documentary Film Department “Telefilm-Chisinau” organised a school of documentary films "Planning and shooting of Human Rights Documentary Films".


The school was led by international consultant and movie director, Irene Langemann, a German documentary film director, jointly with the experts from Telefilm-Chisinau, holders of national and international awards in the fields of film-making and cinematographic industry.


Throughout the training course, participants had the opportunity to develop their knowledge and capacities on storytelling, documentary styles, visualisation, and other important elements in the production of a documentary.


The training course culminated with a final presentation of documentary projects where participants pitched their ideas.The authors of the best documentary film ideas will benefit from support in the production of documentaries during the period of October 2022 and April 2023. This activity aims to support the public broadcaster in creating high-quality communication products, and to bring added value to the audiovisual field of the country and society as a whole.

 

The event was organized by the Council of Europe Project in Chisinau "Support for  Media Pluralism and Freedom of Expression in the Republic of Moldova".
