12 psychologists from the National Centre of Psycho-pedagogical Assistance completed a Training of Trainers on trauma treatment techniques and prevention of burnout

On 2-4 October 2023, 12 psychologists from the National Centre of Psycho-pedagogical Assistance under the Ministry of Education and Research of the Republic of Moldova completed a three-day Training of Trainers (ToT) on trauma treatment techniques and prevention of burnout.

The ToT was tailored to the needs of the psychologists of the National Centre of Psycho-pedagogical Assistance and aimed to equip them with the necessary techniques on trauma treatment and prevention of burnout. This will in turn improve the quality of psychological support provided to teachers and professionals in pre-school, primary and secondary educational institutions, as well as to children and adolescents who have experienced traumatic events.

“Human beings, especially children when exposed to uncertainty, pain, suffering, fear, and sadness, need support, understanding, and care to regain hope and continue their childhood dreams. This process is long and demanding. It requires professionals who are trained and sensitive to children's emotions and needs” emphasised Sabiha Husic, Director, Medica Zenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The three days intensive training sessions were highly interactive and allowed the participants to practice different methods and techniques on trauma treatment and burnout prevention.

“The course came as a response and a breath of fresh air to our professional needs and provided us with tools and techniques on communication and conflict management. After this training we set ourselves ambitious goals to work towards the resilience and well-being of teachers, affected children and adolescents” noted Violeta Procopciuc, psychologist, District Resource Centre for Inclusive Education, Psycho-pedagogical Assistance Service, Ungheni.

The training was organised by the Project “Strengthening the human rights protection of refugees and migrants in the Republic of Moldova”, financed under the Council of Europe Action Plan for the Republic of Moldova (2021-2024) and implemented by the Council of Europe.
