The workshop on “Effective communication between the People’s Advocate Office and the media” was held for the staff of the People’s Advocate Office of the Republic of Moldova (Ombudsperson’s Office) on 22-23 September 2016 in Chisinau.  The workshop was organised within the framework of the Council of Europe project “Support to Criminal Justice Reforms in the Republic of Moldova”, funded by the Government of Denmark in cooperation with the People’s Advocate Office.  

During one and a half day the Council of Europe international and national consultants leaded discussions on the role, principles and particularities of communication of the Ombudsperson Institutions with media, effective technics on development of written and verbal messages, “proper” and prompt responses of the Ombudsperson Institutions on signals about human rights violations. The workshop also consisted of practical exercises to effectively handle interviews for radio and television. Particularly, the participants learned how to properly structure the interviews and handle tough questions.  

The aim of the Workshop was to strengthen the capacities of the People’s Advocate Institution for an effective communication with the media outlets and promote the institutional image of the People’s Advocate Office.
