At the start of their 1517th meeting, on 22 January 2025, the Ministers’ Deputies observed a minute of silence in memory of His Excellency Mr Didier Guillaume, Minister of State of Monaco, who passed away on 17 January 2025.
The Deputies heard a communication from the Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly, Despina Chatzivassiliou, about the preparation of the 1st part of the 2025 Session (Strasbourg, 27-31 January 2025) and other Assembly activities.
They also took note of the Secretary General’s report on the 18th Council of Europe Conference of Ministers responsible for Sport and welcomed the resolution on sports governance adopted by the Conference. The Deputies acknowledged the increasing importance of sports for societies and public health, welcomed the inclusion of a youth perspective in the Conference and encouraged member States to implement the European Sports Charter. They also invited relevant committees to take action on the resolution, suggested exchanges on sports priorities and encouraged more countries to join the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Sport (EPAS) to broaden its impact.
