Back Meeting of the Ministers’ Deputies on 27 September 2023

At their 1476th meeting on 27 September, the Ministers' Deputies discussed current political affairs.
 
They held a thematic discussion and adopted a set of decisions reaffirming their unequivocal opposition to the death penalty, including any reintroduction of it, and promoting the global abolition of capital punishment, including among youth, in line with the Reykjavik Summit Declaration. They also welcomed the ratification of Protocol No. 13 by the National Assembly of Armenia and looked forward to the deposit of the instrument of ratification by Armenia.
 
The Deputies adopted a Declaration inviting member states and sport organisations to promote transparency, accountability, democracy and ethical behaviour in sport [more information …].
 
Ms Leyla Kayacik, Special Representative of the Secretary General on Migration and Refugees, presented a report on her fact-finding mission to Hungary on 21-23 March 2023, in which she highlighted the significant efforts made by the Hungarian authorities, in co-ordination with NGOs and volunteers, to welcome, support, and protect people displaced from Ukraine [more information …].
 
In addition, the Deputies held an exchange of views with Ms Anke Eilers, President of the Consultative Council of European Judges (CCJE).
