At their 1330th meeting, the Ministers' Deputies adopted Recommendation CM/Rec(2018)11 on the need to strengthen the protection and promotion of the civil society space in Europe and encouraged member States to continue their efforts in this respect.
They also took a series of decisions to strengthen the monitoring mechanism of the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages, with effect from 1 July 2019. While maintaining the fundamental features of the mechanism, the reform will ensure its effectiveness and preserve its authority and credibility through a balanced set of measures.
Finally, they had an extensive dialogue on current political developments, on the basis of the Secretary General's communication, and held exchanges of views with:
- Ms Dunja Mijatović, Commissioner for Human Rights, following her presentation of the 3rd quarterly activity report 2018;
- Mr Wojciech Sawicki, Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly, on the November Standing Committee and Bureau meetings;
- Mr Anders Knape, President of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities, on the 35th Plenary Session and other activities of the Congress.
