At their 1455th meeting, on 1 February, the Ministers’ Deputies adopted a Recommendation to promote equitable access to medicinal products and medical equipment in a situation of shortage and to safeguard the fundamental rights of individuals who need them for serious or life-threatening health conditions [more information …]. They also took note of a Guide to health literacy – contributing to trust building and equitable access to healthcare, prepared by the Steering Committee for Human Rights in the fields of Biomedicine and Health (CDBIO).
The Deputies took note of a mid-term review report on the implementation of the Strategic Action Plan for Roma and Traveller[Note] The term “Roma and Travellers” is used at the Council of Europe to encompass the wide diversity of the groups covered by the work of the Council of Europe in this field: on the one hand a) Roma, Sinti/Manush, Calé, Kaale, Romanichals, Boyash/Rudari; b) Balkan Egyptians (Egyptians and Ashkali); c) Eastern groups (Dom, Lom and Abdal); and, on the other hand, groups such as Travellers, Yenish, and the populations designated under the administrative term “Gens du voyage”, as well as persons who identify themselves as Gypsies. The present is an explanatory footnote, not a definition of Roma and/or Travellers. Inclusion (2020-2025), as well as a thematic report of the Committee of Experts on Roma and Traveller Issues (ADI-ROM) on legislation and policies related to begging, with special focus on children [more information …].
Finally, the Deputies held an exchange of views with Mr Tiny Kox, President of the Parliamentary Assembly, on the 1st part of the 2023 Session (Strasbourg, 23-27 January 2023).
