At their 1450th meeting, on 30 November, the Ministers’ Deputies held an exchange of views with Mr Paul Mahoney, Chair of the Advisory Panel of Experts on Candidates for Election as Judge to the European Court of Human Rights (see Activity Report).
The Deputies agreed upon the agenda for the United Nations 2023 exchange of views on human rights questions, to be held on 9 February 2023, which will include a thematic discussion on “Accountability for human rights violations as a result of the aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine: role of the international community”.
They also approved the holding of the 26th Session of the Standing Conference of Ministers of Education on the theme “The transformative power of education: universal values and civic renewal” in Strasbourg on 28 and 29 September 2023.
In addition, the Deputies took note of:
- a report on the review of the implementation of the Council of Europe Charter on Education for Democratic Citizenship and Human Rights Education, as well as of the main conclusions of the Forum on the present and future of citizenship and human rights education – The Art of Learning Equality, Dignity and Democracy, which took place in Turin from 11 to 13 April 2022, within the framework of Italy’s Presidency of the Committee of Ministers;
- the key findings of the youth campaign “Democracy Here | Democracy Now”, including the Call for Action prepared by the participants of the Youth Action Week organised from 27 June to 2 July 2022, within the framework of Ireland’s Presidency of the Committee of Ministers.
