With regard to the European Social Charter, the Deputies, reiterating their commitment to improving the implementation of social rights in Europe, and referring to their decision on the first phase of their work on this issue, adopted a series of decisions relating to the second phase of their work which was devoted to the consideration of more long-term substantive and procedural issues. In this respect, the Deputies agreed, inter alia, on the need to promote acceptance by member States of further commitments under the Charter, to promote education and training on the Council of Europe social rights framework. They also agreed, in the spirit of the Turin process, to consider reviewing in due course the longer-term substantive and procedural issues that had been identified.

Finally, the Deputies held an exchange of views with Mr Gerhard Ermischer, President of the Conference of INGOs.
