Liliane Maury Pasquier
 Switzerland

A member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe from 2008 to 2020, Liliane Maury Pasquier chaired several committees before becoming head of the Socialists, Greens and Democrats Group in 2018, and then President of the Assembly itself between 2018 and 2020.

Co-rapporteur of the Monitoring Committee on Russia, she took part in several election observation missions (notably in Ukraine, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Armenia) and presented several notable reports, including on coerced sterilisations and castrations, the right to health, the treatment of Palestinian minors in the Israeli justice system and the fight against corruption within the Assembly.

During her presidency of the Assembly, she launched the #NotInMyParliament campaign for concrete action against sexual harassment and for gender equality. She actively promoted greater collaboration between parliamentarians and government officials, thereby improving the effectiveness of the Council of Europe, with the introduction of a joint procedure.

The project “75 women in 75 years of Council of Europe history” is organised by the Delegation of the European Union to the Council of Europe with the Council of Europe and the Permanent Representations of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
