Congress participation in the General Assembly and 30th Anniversary of the Assembly of European Regions
The General Assembly of the Assembly of European Regions (AER) will be hosted in 2015 by the region of Västra-Götaland (Sweden) from 9 to 12 June. On that occasion, the members will celebrate 30 years of AER and its regional diversity, while also looking ahead on what they will bring to the future. The Congress will be represented by its 1st Vice-President Gudrun Mosler-Törnström, President of the Chamber of Regions, who will participate in the discussion about “Institutionalised regional cooperation-past, present, future” during the Anniversary Ceremony on 11 June and give a speech at the statutory session as well on 12 June. The participants will address key issues regarding the future of the AER, including the 2015-2017 strategic perspectives, its finances and new initiatives. The objective of this thematic session is also to envision scenarios of the future territorial development taking into account the role of territorial identity making, the increasing influence of technology in the citizens’daily life as well as the increasing focus on urban and metropolitan areas.
