The Congress of Local and Regional Authorities has just released two new publications.
The third volume of the Human Rights Handbook is dedicated to the environment and sustainable development. It presents the international legal framework for human rights and environmental protection, explains how sub-national authorities contribute to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and covers the main challenges in this respect. This volume addresses transport, housing, sustainable economy, education, public procurement, and local strategies for sustainable development.
The "Democratic Elections" series presents the analysis and recommendations of the Congress on recurrent and transversal issues relating to local and regional elections: independent candidates and the opposition, deliberative methods, referendums at a local level, elections in major crisis situations, voting rights for the integration of migrants and displaced persons, the use of administrative resources, voters residing abroad and voting at 16.
The publications can be downloaded for free online and are available in paper format on request.
