The 1st Coordination meeting to further develop a training manual on case management system for violent and extremist prisoners was held in Mostar, on 20 February 2019. Representatives of the Ministry of Justice of Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Ministry of Justice of Republika Srpska, prison units and law enforcement agencies exchanged best practices on training and prison management with the view of further successful reintegration into society of prisoners with violent and extremist behaviour.
The previous and current work with other projects implemented by the Council of Europe in the prison filed, as well as regarding the violent and extremist prisoners were also presented and discussed at the meeting.
It is expected that the experiences on improving the identification of radicalization signs amongst prisoners, managing those that are already showing the signs of radicalization, as well as strengthening the relations between the communities and the prisons, will be directly built in the operational procedures of prison facilities and law enforcement agencies of BiH.
This session was part of the project ''Structured Sentence Management For Violent And Extremist Prisoners", funded by the voluntary contribution of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the United Kingdom (UK) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Office in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and implemented by the Council of Europe.
