A series of regional cascade training sessions were implemented as the final phase of ongoing efforts to enhance knowledge and practices of prison staff on effective implementation of discipline and reward mechanism in line with international standards and best practices. The experienced prison staff already trained within the same project, started disseminating the knowledge to their peers in two provinces, namely Ankara from 24 to 28 February 2025, as well as İstanbul from 10 to 14 March 2025. The participants show high level of interest and engage in training content with interactive case studies.
The Training covers 4 comprehensive modules on prisoner discipline and reward mechanisms based on adult learning principles, prepared by working groups members guided by international and national consultants of Council of Europe. Around 36 trainers trained under the project will deliver cascaded training to 200 prison staff in regional sessions, and the trainings will take in the upcoming months as well, to cover the staff working in other prisons throughout Türkiye.
This training was organised within the scope of the Project on "Enhancing the Disciplinary and Reward Procedures for Prisoners in Türkiye” co-funded by Norway, the Human Rights Trust Fund of the Council of Europe, Belgium, Türkiye, the Netherlands, and Switzerland.
