The first coordination meeting of representatives of Ministries of Justice of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Republika Srpska and Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, prison establishments from Zenica, Banja Luka, Bihać and Bijeljina and Social Work Centers took place in Brčko, on 16 and 17 May 2019. The aim of the meeting was two-fold: to analyse and discuss possible modalities for improving multi-agency co-operation and to discuss specific needs for establishment of a case management system for violent and extremist prisoners.

participants exchanged experiences and practices from previous similar multi-agency co-operation and case management system and agreed to take further steps in this regard. y highlighted that all agencies must enhance their awareness of the multi-layered phenomenon of radicalisation in order to ensure that both aspects - the overall security of society and the resocialisation and reintegration of this category of prisoners upon their release - are taken into consideration. The participants emphasised that the main aim is to support prisoners’ reintegration into the society through a more systematic and structural approach.

The activity was organised under the project ''Structured Sentence Management For Violent And Extremist Prisoners" funded by the voluntary contribution of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the United Kingdom (UK) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Office in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and implemented by the Council of Europe.
