A public event with relevant stakeholders and civil society on consultations on the study on the Bulgarian legislation on legitimate use of force, auxiliary means and firearms by the police officers was organized on 30 June 2015 in Sofia at the Academy of the Ministry of Interior of Bulgaria.
The study has been developed with the participation of two Council of Europe independent experts who provided recommendations on European and international standards and best European practices in the field of legitimate use of force, fire arms and auxiliary means by the police officers in Bulgaria and how the Bulgarian legislation with these standards. The study has been developed together with three Bulgarian experts. It was submitted to public discussions during the above mentioned event.
The event was organized under the Pre-defined Project “Human rights protection and further development of necessary skills and knowledge of police officers, especially those working in multi-ethnic environment, including Roma communities”, which is implemented by the Academy of the Ministry of Interior of Bulgaria in partnership with the Council of Europe and funded by Norwegian Financial Mechanism (2009 - 2014).
