The President took part in the Conference “Future of AML: building resilience in the evolving financial crime environment”

Ioannis Androulakis, President of the Conference of the Parties to CETS no. 198 took part in the Conference “Future of AML: building resilience in the evolving financial crime environment”  organized within the framework of the Latvian Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe in Riga from 6 to 7 November 2023.

This high-level international conference  brought together about 200 anti-money laundering experts from member States of the Council of Europe and beyond, representatives of European and international organisations, private sector and civil society. It includes four thematic sessions on specific topics: 1) Mastering sactions: strategies for effective implementation and compliance, 2) Securing the future: crypto assets, regulation and AML solutions; 3) Effective asset recovery in compliance with European and international standards; and 4) Harnessing digital transformation for financial crime prevention.

The opening session included addresses by Arvils Ašeradens, Minister for Finance of Latvia, Elżbieta Frankow-Jaśkiewicz, Chair of MONEYVAL, and Raja Kumar, FATF president.
