Supporting the better alignment of the corruption prevention framework in Montenegro with the European Union and Council of Europe standards, the Action against Economic Crime has produced an analysis of the provisions of the Law for Prevention of Corruption as regards to whistleblowing, integrity plans, and administrative and misdemeanor proceedings.

At a roundtable held on 24 April 2023 in Podgorica, the analysis and its resulting proposals were discussed with the representatives of the Agency for Prevention of Corruption and Ministry of Justice, the judges and an integrity manager representing Administrative and Basic Court, and a member of the Parliament responsible for the coordination of working group for drafting the amendments to the Law on Prevention of Corruption.

This activity represents the third and final step towards comprehensive review of the Law on Prevention of Corruption that the Action has been supporting since the beginning of 2022. The first phase of this process included the review and recommendations related to the regulation of the position, mandate and powers of the Agency for Prevention of Corruption, while the second covered the legal provisions which regulate conflict of interest, restriction in the exercise of public functions, asset declarations, gits, donations and sponsorship.

The activity was organized by the Action against Economic Crime in Montenegro, within the framework of the European Union/Council of Europe joint Programme Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Türkiye (Horizontal Facility III), co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.
