Closing Conference of the “Action against Corruption in the Republic of Moldova (Phase 2)” – Key Outcomes and Future Directions

The “Action against Corruption in the Republic of Moldova (Phase 2)” project concluded with a Closing Conference and Steering Committee Meeting, where key stakeholders gathered to review the project’s achievements and discuss future directions. Running from September 2022 to December 2024, the project focused on strengthening the integrity and accountability of Moldova’s executive, law enforcement, and judicial sectors.

The conference featured several thematic sessions that summarized critical areas of the project’s outcomes, including:

  • The legislative framework for ethics and integrity among top executive officials.
  • Corruption risk assessment and management in the law enforcement sector.
  • Guidelines for handling misconduct disclosures in line with Moldova's whistleblower protection law.
  • The strategic direction of the Superior Council of Magistracy (SCM) for the next five years.
  • Challenges and recommendations for improving the investigation and prosecution of corruption offenses.

Each session provided an overview of key findings and deliverables, followed by discussions on possible follow-up actions. A comprehensive overview of the project results highlighted both the progress made and the challenges encountered, laying the groundwork for continued reform efforts.

The event also served as a platform for stakeholder engagement, where discussions shaped the next steps in Moldova’s anti-corruption initiatives and ensured the sustainability of the reforms introduced during the project.

This support is provided within the framework of the project “Action against Corruption in the Republic of Moldova (Phase 2)”, funded by the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) of the US Department of State and implemented by the Council of Europe.
