The Council of Europe through its joint EU/Council of Europe “Project against Economic Crime in Kosovo*” (PECK III) is supporting the Public Administration in Kosovo in implementing a system which promotes the protection of whistleblowers.
In this respect and in cooperation with the Kosovo Institute for Public Administration (KIPA), PECK III organised a peer-to-peer training on the protection of whistleblowers in public administration on 13-14 December 2022. The training was facilitated by trainers of KIPA who were previously trained by the Project as part of ensuring sustainability and in-house public administration expertise.
The training which brought together 26 officials from ministries and other public administration bodies, aimed to strengthen the use of the whistleblowing mechanism within the Public Administration by raising awareness on the positive effects of whistleblowing and increased understanding of civil servants to recognise and manage the situations to which they could be exposed to.
During the training, participants were presented with good practices on protection of whistleblowers in accordance with international standards and domestic legal framework as well as on whistleblowing channels and reporting procedures in the public administration. The activity also served through practical exercises to raise awareness on how to address challenges they might face and take actions to protect whistleblowers.
The activity was organised within the framework of the “Project against Economic Crime in Kosovo” (PECK III), jointly funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the latter.
