Finalising the National ML/FT Risk Assessment of legal entities and legal arrangements in North Macedonia

The working group responsible for conducting the national money laundering and financing of terrorism (ML/TF) risk assessment of legal entities and legal arrangements in North Macedonia held its last meetings on 30 November and 1 December 2023. The meetings aimed to draw up the conclusion of the analysed data and the assessment report, namely, to gather key findings, including identifying vulnerabilities, threats, risk ratings and risk mitigation measures. The working group was supported by a Council of Europe consultant that guided the group throughout the process who will subsequently also support by reviewing the report and providing further recommendations and comments for its improvement. Such a national ML/FT risk assessment for legal entities is a proactive and strategic approach that helps countries strengthen their financial systems, comply with international standards, and protect themselves from the negative consequences of financial crimes.

This activity was organised by Action against economic crime in North Macedonia, within the framework of the European Union/Council of Europe joint Programme Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Türkiye (Horizontal Facility III), co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.
