Back Fourth Steering Committee Meeting of the Action against Economic Crime in Albania

The fourth Steering Committee Meeting of the Action against Economic Crime in Albania brought together high-level representatives from all main beneficiary institutions of the Action, as well as representatives of the European Union Delegation to Albania and the Council of Europe. The meeting was attended by the Head of Special Prosecutor Office Against Corruption and Organised Crime, the General Inspector of High Inspectorate of Declaration of Assets, Audit and Conflict of Interest, representatives of the Parliament, the Ministry of Justice/National Anticorruption Coordinator, Central Election Commission, General Prosecution Office, General Directorate for the Prevention of Money Laundering and other stakeholders.

The Committee members discussed the progress achieved over the last six months and highlighted the good cooperation and support offered by the action aimed at improving the legal and policy framework, increasing capacities of the Albanian authorities in the fight against corruption, money laundering and terrorist financing.

The participants also identified measures that will contribute during the remaining implementation period to better address the priorities of the state institutions in their reform process as well as to comply with the recommendations of GRECO and MONEYVAL. The importance of the Council of Europe support to Albanian institutions in strengthening the prevention and fight against economic crime was emphasised.

The Action Against Economic Crime in Albania is part of the Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey II, a joint programme of the European Union and Council of Europe.
