Back Good practices in assessing risks of Electronic Money Issuers presented to Serbian officials

The Workshop on good practices in risk assessment of Electronic Money Issuers (EMI) took place on 13 January 2023, within the project Preventing Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing in Serbia, gathering 10 representatives of the working group established by the Government to conduct the ML/TG Risk Assessment of foreign EMI in Serbia - in line with the the Action Plan for implementation of the national ML/TF Strategy. Representatives from the National Bank of Serbia, as the main supervisor over the sector, but also from the Administration for Prevention of Money Laundering (FIU) actively engaged in the discussions. 

The participants had the opportunity to meet the representatives of the Commission for Supervision of the Financial Sector in Luxemburg (CSSF) through videoconference and learn about their experience in conducting the ML/TF National Risk Assessment as well as ML/TF Sectoral Risk Assessment of EMI active in Luxembourg. In addition, CSSF representatives explained the supervision process performed by the institution, the applicable EU legislative framework, procedures for exchange of information with other countries, and possible sanctions.
The members of the working group greatly benefited from the inputs provided on the methodology and criteria for assessment of threats, which will set the basis for development of the risk assessment of operations of foreign EMI in Serbia.
