On 10th December 2021, the Action against Economic Crime in North Macedonia organised an online meeting to discuss the final version of the draft legal arrangement on non-conviction based confiscation. During the previous several months, a working group consisting of high level officials and experienced practitioners from various institutions involved in the fight against economic crime, facilitated by the Action against Economic Crime, worked on a draft legal framework for introducing non-conviction based confiscation in the country. The draft was reviewed by a Council of Europe consultant, who presented to the working group her comments and recommendations for improvement of the draft legislation. Representatives of the working group found the discussion and recommendations very constructive and useful and will incorporate them into the draft law, which will be then submitted to competent authorities for a follow-up in line with the legislative procedure and eventual adoption by Parliament.
