The workshop on supervisory approach to the supervision of the NPO sector in Serbia, took place on 29 November 2023 in Belgrade and has gathered the representatives of the Governmental Working Group on Supervision of NPOs, composed of representatives from the Tax Administration, prosecution, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, National Security Council and Bussines Register Agency. The review of the current procedures for supervision of NPOs in Serbia was presented, along with the recommendations for its improvement, in terms of alignment with best practices and changes introduced to Recommendation 8.

The workshop provided the opportunity for lively disscussions on the general and specific selection criteria for NPO supervision, vulnerability assessment tools, and best practices in the on-site supervision process, as well as possibilities for introduction of offsite supervision. In addition, detailed guidance on division of tasks among team members, based on available resources was provided.

The activity has taken place within the Project “Preventing Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing in Serbia”, funded by the Swedish International Development Agency, and implemented by the Council of Europe.
