A Working Group meeting tasked with reviewing and amending AML/CFT legislation took place on 20 and 21 February 2020 in Pristina, Kosovo. The aim of the meeting was to discuss the findings and recommendations stemming from the PECK II Assessment report on the compliance of Kosovo with international standards in the AML/CFT area. Participants benefited from good practices and international expert advice on how to address the AML/CFT Assessment Report findings and recommendations, with a particular focus on preventive measures, supervision, legal persons and arrangements, beneficial ownership, investigation and prosecution. As a result of the meeting, the members of the working group (6 women and 7 men) agreed on a monitoring tool, which will serve as guidance for priority areas requiring, inter alia, legislative changes.
This was the second meeting of the working group organized with the support of PECK II, a joint Council of Europe – EU Project against Economic Crime in Kosovo. The Project will continue to provide expert support in the process of amending the AML/CFT Law, which is expected to be finalized in 2021.
