Supporting the money laundering and terrorist financing national risk assessment process

The Council of Europe through its joint EU/Council of Europe Project against Economic Crime (PECK III) continues to support the Analytical and Coordination Team (ACT) in conducting the Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing (ML/FT) national risk assessment for Kosovo. In this context the project facilitated the ACT meetings in the process of analysing the latest set of data received for the purpose of drafting the assessment report.

The ACT composed of six members representing the FIU, Police, Banking Sector, Tax Administration and Prosecution analysed the heatmaps stemming from the case analysis module. Over the course of the activity the ACT members analysed over 1 000 cases aiming to identify and map the most common characteristics of ML and TF cases in the jurisdiction. Following this event the ACT will draft and finalise the first draft NRA and take further steps in finalising the assessment.

The project will continue to provide further support and tailor-made guidance throughout different stages of risk assessment up to the finalisation of the National Risk Assessment Report.

The activity was organised within the framework of the “Project against Economic Crime in Kosovo” (PECK III), jointly funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the latter.
