The Council of Europe advised the State Financial Monitoring Service of Ukraine on technologies and IT solutions to increase the agency’s efficiency

The State Financial Monitoring Service of Ukraine (the FIU of Ukraine) received expert advice from the Council of Europe in view of modernizing its technological infrastructure, aiming to bolster its strategic and operational analysis capabilities.

To support the partners from the FIU of Ukraine the Council of Europe commissioned international experts, who conducted a two-day thematic online workshop, delving into applicable technologies and specific IT solutions tailored to the needs of the FIU of Ukraine. While the first day of the workshop focused on exploring key technologies and highlighting their advantages, disadvantages, and best practices, on the second day a number of specific IT solutions tailored to the requirements of the FIU of Ukraine were presented.

The goal of the intervention is to equip the FIU of Ukraine with a comprehensive solution covering all stages of its operational cycle, from data reception to case referrals to law enforcement agencies. The collaborative effort between the FIU of Ukraine and the Council of Europe is expected to result in the adoption of advanced technological solutions, significantly enhancing the agency's capacities. The modernization of the IT infrastructure will not only benefit the FIU of Ukraine but will also contribute to the overall maturity of the AML/CFT system in Ukraine, strengthening the country's ability to combat financial crimes effectively.

This event is part of the European Union and the Council of Europe joint programme “Partnership for Good Governance”, co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe, and implemented by the Council of Europe, in the framework of the project ”Enhancing anti-money laundering, counter terrorist financing and asset recovery regime in Ukraine”.
