On 21-22 April 2020, the CLEP Project organised a two-day webinar on Forensic Accounting for eighteen judges and prosecutors in collaboration with the National Institute of Justice of the Republic of Moldova. The Council of Europe experts presented the main functions of forensic accounting in investigation and litigation process with special focus on corruption and fraud offences. During the webinar, the participants explored the standards for forensic accounting reports, objective-setting for a subject-matter expert and conditions for the judges and trial participants to request an expertise. They were assigned individual work exercises to ensure practical learning. The event also served as a good opportunity for the National Institute of Justice to discuss with the participants the current challenges related to forensic accounting expertise and analysis of the legal framework of the Republic of Moldova in this field.

Considering the current restrictive measures related to COVID-19 in the Republic of Moldova, the training was organized through an online platform which ensured the timely organization of the event and a good interaction among participants and the Council of Europe experts.
