During this meeting, the CPT adopted the reports on its periodic visits to Switzerland (March/April 2021) and the United Kingdom (June 2021) as well as on its ad hoc visits to Georgia and Romania (both in May 2021). These reports will be sent in due course to the respective Governments.[1]
The CPT also decided to issue a public statement in respect of Bulgaria pursuant to Article 10, paragraph 2, of the CPT Convention. The text of this public statement was published on 4 November 2021.
In addition to preparing future visits and discussing ways to further improve the internal organisation of its work, the Committee held an exchange of views with the Council of Europe’s Commissioner for Human Rights on two topics of common interest, namely the situation of LGBTI persons deprived of their liberty and immigration detention/pushbacks.
