The Ministry of Culture and Historical Heritage is the department of the Government of Andalusia in charge of regional powers in the areas of art, culture, historical heritage, archives, audiovisual and museums.
“Cádiz Prehistórico” Interpretation Centre in Benalup-Casas Viejas aims to bring visitors closer to the reality of Prehistory in Cádiz Region, where local rock art sites are presented, like “Tajo de las Figuras”.
The Cave of Los Murciélagos in Zuheros (Córdoba) shows representations of ibex and Neolithic human remains of great importance, as well as Upper Palaeolithic engravings: the cave is also very well decorated with calcite formations which make it a natural monument (www.prehistour.eu/carp-guide/los-murcielagos-cave).
The Dolmen de Soto is a passage grave constiting of several standing-stones with engravings, with one of the largest repertoires in the Iberian Peninsula. The dolmen and its rock art are dated in the Chalcolithic period, between 3800/3000 and 2500 BC (www.prehistour.eu/carp-guide/dolmen-de-soto).
