- Description
- New Lanark is a 18th-century village set on the river Clyde where the philanthropist and Utopian idealist Robert Owen moulded an industrial community to create good living conditions for his workers. New Lanark represented both a success business model and a milestone in the historical development of urban planning.
New Lanark Trust is a Registered Scottish Charity (est. 1974) with the aim of restoring, regenerating and managing the former cotton mill village of New Lanark into a living and working community. The Trust has pioneered a radical approach to heritage management blending tourism and hospitality, housing and commercial property rental, manufacture and retail.
New Lanark is an Anchor Point of the European Route of Industrial Heritage.
