CyberEast: Seventh Steering Committee Meeting takes place in Chisinau

During the Seventh Steering Committee Meeting of the CyberEast project, representatives of the country teams, members of the European Commission (joining online) and of the C-PROC team reviewed major outcomes of the project and established a workplan for the remainder of 2023. On this occasion, the participants also discussed a proposal for the new CyberEast+ regional project, currently negotiated with the European Commission.

Counterparts from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine provided updates regarding ongoing initiatives on combating cybercrime and handling electronic evidence in their countries. Stakeholders from Armenia and Georgia have confirmed that they are preparing to sign the Second Additional Protocol to the Convention on Cybercrime (Budapest Convention) by the end of 2023. The Republic of Moldova and Ukraine, which have already signed the Second Additional Protocol, highlighted that they are working on its implementation under their domestic legislations.

The CyberEast project expressed its long-term commitment to endorsing the current priorities, including sustainable trainings, through its existing and upcoming initiatives in the Eastern Partnership, while also strengthening national expertise on cybercrime and electronic evidence in the region’s countries.
