From 17 to 19 December 2024, the CyberSEE joint project of the European Union and the Council of Europe, in collaboration with the Council of Europe’s End Online Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse@Europe Plus (EndOCSEA@Europe+) project, organised a training session on preventing and combatting online child sexual abuse and exploitation in Podgorica, Montenegro.
The training focused on enhancing the capacities of criminal justice professionals to address the challenges posed by investigating online child sexual exploitation and abuse (OCSEA), by using the tools provided by the Lanzarote Convention, the Convention on Cybercrime (Budapest Convention) and its Second Additional Protocol.
Over the three-day course, representatives from the judiciary, prosecution offices and law enforcement in Montenegro had the chance to explore critical topics such as the application of substantive and procedural legal frameworks to OCSEA offences, effective methods for investigations and child victim protection through criminal proceedings. Various case studies and practical exercises were used to reinforce the knowledge and skills and to ensure an interactive learning experience.
The Council of Europe, through the CyberSEE Project, remains committed to support the strengthening of capacities of criminal justice authorities in the region in the fight against cybercrime and to enhance the international cooperation.
