CyberSEE and Octopus Project – CyberKOP action: International Conference on International Judicial Cooperation in Criminal Matters and Cybercrime

CyberSEE project supported the EU-CoE Joint Programme Improving International Judicial Cooperation in Criminal Matters in Turkey in organising the International Conference on International Judicial Cooperation on Criminal Matters and Combatting Cybercrime, held in Ankara, Türkiye, on 27-28 May.

The conference marked the 75th Anniversary of the Council of Europe and the 20th Anniversary of the Council of Europe Programme Office in Ankara, bringing together 150 criminal justice professionals and key partners, to discuss the challenges and the legal framework for international cooperation in criminal matters and to strengthen partnerships in combating cybercrime.

CYBERKOP Action of the Octopus Project supported the participation of an international delegation of representatives of judicial and law enforcement authorities from Pristina to gain insights into best practices related to cross-border judicial cooperation and to network with their counterparts in the region.

Key sessions of the event focused on the Council of Europe instruments on judicial international cooperation, with a particular emphasis on the provisions of Convention on Cybercrime (Budapest Convention) and its Second Additional Protocol, for the cooperation on cybercrime and electronic evidence.
